Recalling that Karachi’s population was projected at around 30 million in the census of 2013, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said on Monday there were reports that this time the government planned to show the city’s population less than 20 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he said that the MQM-P would not accept such results and demanded formation of a commission in order to get correct results. “We have fought the census case on each and every forum,” he said, adding, “We want justice in the case and we request the federal government to assist us in getting justice.”
He said that the party had shown evidence in the past too to prove that the census figures were not correct.
Siddiqui demanded that census results should be made public early. “We don’t want delay in elections since we are prepared for that,” MQM-P leader said categorically.
