A petition on Tuesday landed in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into a sex and drug scandal at Islamia University Bahawalpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The petitioner requested the court to issue an order to stop making public the objectionable videos of the IUB staff and students.

The court was also prayed that no investigation officer including the Punjab IG police should be transferred without the Supreme Court’s permission.

The petitioner implored the court to direct the police and the FIA to complete investigations within 15 days.

The petition was filed by Advocate Zulfiqar Bhutta.

The petitioner requested the SC to stop the proceedings of the Judicial Commission formed by the Punjab government to probe the scandal until the completion of the investigations by the police.

He beseeched that no political personality should be provided with details of the case without court permission, fearing that transparent investigations are not possible due to political interference.

The irrelevant people are making public clips of these rude videos, the petition stated adding that the lives of students might be at risk if these videos were kept shared on social media.

The federal and Punjab governments, FIA, and others were made respondents in the case.

On Monday, a petition was also filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking formation of a judicial commission to probe the Islamia University Bahawalpur sex and drugs scandal.

Mashkoor Hussain, a citizen, filed the petition in the court in which he made the chief secretary, inspector general of police, Punjab, director general of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other respondents in the case.

Islamia University Bahawalpur is under probe after a special report by police alleged sale of drugs and sexual exploitation of students and teachers. The police based its claims on sexually explicit videos found on the mobile phones of the university staff.

The police have said they have arrested the IUB treasurer and reportedly recovered meth and aphrodisiacs from him, while the varsity’s chief of security is accused of possessing objectionable videos of students and staff members.
