Agrees to complete Naya Pakistan Housing Project, Bundle Islands Project & River Ravi Urban Project in time

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting of the federal cabinet here on Tuesday and discussed various agenda items relating to development projects and other issues of importance, reported 24NewsHD TV channel quoting the PM office issued statement.

The TV channel reported that the federal cabinet discussed the latest Covid-19 situation and the steps being taken to check its spread. 

The recommendations of the National and Operation Center for procurement of Covid vaccine were also presented before the Cabinet for approval. The cabinet approved to specify $150million for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The cabinet also discussed the overall political and economic situation of the country and considered the political, economic and overall situation of the country. 

The federal cabinet considered the 17-point agenda and approved the license of the private airline Air Sial. 

The cabinet approved coronavirus vaccine will be given to frontline health workers while cabinet decided citizens above 65 years of age will be provided with vaccines in the second phase.

The cabinet members agreed to complete government flagships development project Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, River Ravi Urban Development Project in Lahore and Bundle Islands Project in Karachi in time.

All three projects are guarantors of Pakistan's development and prosperity, cabinet members agreed on this and also approved extension in the deputation of Executive Director of National Institute of Health (NIH).

The cabinet also discussed opposition’s Multan gatherings and ministers were of the view that opposition’s gatherings were a violation of the country’s laws in the present situation.

The cabinet also approved the golden handshake for Pakistan Steel Mills employees and also approved the privatization of different entities.

Sources said MQM was against the privatization of Huse Building Finance Corporation. Federal Minister Ameenul Haw said HBFC was a profitable organization and was facilitating the people as per the vision of the government. 

The cabinet also reviewed the gas supply situation in the country and approved lad-management plan according to which the gas supply would be suspended for the CNG stations in the first phase while the domestic customers and export sectors would be given preference. 

After the Federal Cabinet meeting, Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz commented on the opposition gatgherings scheduled to be held on December 13 in Lahore.

“The government will review the opposition Lahore gathering from time to time and for now we are not giving permission to hold public rallies. However, the government will not stop anyone from participating in Lahore gathering.”

He was addressing a media person to brief on today’s federal cabinet meeting. He alleged, “Maryam Nawaz Sharif cannot speak the truth at all. All he spoke in the gathering (Multan) was a pack of lies and the Multan show was a total flop.”

He assured the nation that Prime Minister Imran Khan is not afraid of difficulties.

Shibli Faraz said there is a ban on the public rallies but now the government has decided not to put hurdles in the opposition rally in Lahore. He said opposition parties’ alliance PDM has not considered the spread of coronavirus with such public gatherings.
