Punjab police Sunday thwarted a sudden and intense attack of armed militants who targeted the Chapri police station in the Isa Khel area of Mianwali, near the inter-provincial border with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 224newsHD TV channel.
According to sources, over 20 assailants, described as Khawarij launched a well-coordinated assault using heavy weaponry, including rocket launchers and hand grenades, causing a fierce exchange of gunfire with the police. The police successfully foiled the attack, killing four terrorists in the process.
Despite the severity of the attack, all personnel stationed at Chapri Police Station remained unharmed.
Two cops sustained minor injuries but continued to perform their duties during the engagement. Senior officers, including District Police Officer Akhtar Farooq, were on-site to oversee the situation. Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar commended the bravery and quick response of the Mianwali police, reaffirming Punjab Police’s commitment to countering terrorism and maintaining peace.
