For the first time in Pakistan's history, a free insulin supply project for children with Type-1 diabetes has been launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the initiative aims to deliver insulin directly to the homes of registered diabetic children, reducing the stress of hospital visits.

As part of the program, registrations for Type-1 diabetic children have begun, and a special helpline (1033) has been established to facilitate families.

Additionally, parents can register for free insulin through local NCD clinics at the tehsil or district levels.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, emphasising the importance of the program, remarked, "Children are like flowers; we will not let them wither. As a mother, I deeply understand the pain and challenges of ailing children. To ease their burden, insulin will be delivered to their homes."

She further highlighted that children with Type-1 diabetes require lifelong insulin, and this initiative will help alleviate financial and logistical burdens on parents. The Punjab government is committed to utilising all available resources to ensure quality healthcare for children across the province, she said.
