The Sindh Food Authority has exposed poor standard of food being served to patients and their attendants in almost all public sector hospitals in Sindh province.
According to a report compiled by the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) and available with 24 News HD, the government hospitals in Hyderabad and elsewhere in the province have been providing unhygienic food to patients.
The report also revealed the gravity of negligence on the part of the government functionaries in carrying out effective oversight of food supply to patients. The SFA, after a thorough analysis of the food being served in hospitals, has pinpointed the poor hygiene level and nutritional aspect of the food.
The authority, in its report, regretted that the negligence is far and wide and there is no exception. The report also mentioned Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Hospital and Asia’s largest mental hospital, CJ Institute, where patients are being served unhygienic food.
STPP PROTEST LACK OF HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
Meanwhile, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP) staged a protest against poor health facilities in public sector hospitals across Sindh. The STPP workers gathered in front of Hyderabad Press Club and raised slogans against the PPP government’s poor policies. The protesters were of the view that provision of healthcare is one of the basic responsibilities but unfortunately the Sindh government failed to fulfill its constitutional responsibility. The STPP leaders claimed that all small and big healthcare outlets are in an appalling state and lack healthcare dispensation resources.
They demanded the Sindh government to revisit health policies and ensure proper healthcare to the public.
