Meera is still Atiq’s wife, rules court

 A court Monday dismissed actress Meera's plea against the family court verdict, declaring she is the wife of Atiqur Rehman. 

The family court declared valid the marriage certificate of Meera and businessman Atiq,

Meera said Atiq prepared a fake nikahnama just to grab her property.

The actress said she had no relation with Rehman but he had been blackmailing her by claiming to be her husband. 

She alleged that the nikhanama ‘prepared’ by the defendant was not verified by the union council concerned. 

She asked the court to declare the impugned marriage certificate a fake one.

According to a noted lawyer, Meera may be jailed for seven years for tying the knot without getting divorced from her ex, Azhar Sadique Advocate explained.
