The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested the federal government to order the concerned departments not to resort to loadshedding in any part of the country for three days in view of the general elections, scheduled to be held on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Quoting its sources, the channel reported that in a letter to caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikndar Sultan Raja has said that since the non-stop supply of electricity is necessary for holding the elections, therefore it is requested to order the concerned departments to make arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply from February 7 to February 9.

The CEC has brought home the fact that any power outage, especially on the election night, could impede counting of the votes and thus delay compilation of the election results.
