Pronouncing a reserved verdict, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday rejected the petition filed by former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for change in his election symbol, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan pronounced the verdict.

Elahi had prayed to the court to order the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allot him the symbol of a ‘peacock’ rather than a ‘donkey cart’.

On Tuesday, the Lahore High Court had reserved its verdict on the petition filed by the PTI president, seeking a change in his electoral symbol.

Earlier, a counsel for the election commission argued that since final notification had been issued in this regard; change in the symbol was not possible.

He also said the ballot papers had also been printed.

He said changing the symbol of any candidate at this stage would delay the election schedule.
