Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday rejected a post-arrest bail petition filed by main accused Naveed who attacked Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in a protest rally in Wazirabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On October 23, 2024, a two-member LHC bench headed by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi heard the case.
The lawyer of the main accused submitted his arguments in favour of the bail, while lawyer representing founder of PTI opposed the bail petition and argued that the accused was directly nominated in the case and was arrested on the spot.
Prosecutor further argued that CCTV footage and statements of witnesses also confirmed his involvement in the case.
He prayed to the court that due to availability of solid evidence against the accused his post-arrest bail petition must be rejected.
The lawyer of the accused said that his client was not present at the venue of attack and he is being involved in this case without any proof, while eye-witnesses also admitted that the Naveed was not present at the site of attack.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court rejected the post-arrest bail plea of the accused in the case.
