A blast near the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) camp in Qila Saifullah district of Balochistan has left one person seriously injured and a vehicle completely destroyed.

The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday that the incident occurred as the targeted vehicle was approaching the state-owned oil and gas company’s camp.

According to the Balochistan police, the attack specifically aimed at the vehicle en route to the OGDCL facility. The driver sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

The explosion has raised alarms about the security of critical infrastructure in the mineral-rich region, which is known for its reserves of chromite, gypsum, marble, and, increasingly, oil and gas exploration projects.

The OGDCL is Pakistan's leading oil and gas company, operating in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Qila Saifullah, located 182 km northeast of the provincial capital Quetta, is not only rich in resources but has also become a focal point for oil and gas exploration by the government.

Despite its immense potential, the district has faced challenges due to such violent incidents.

The OGDCL camp was part of ongoing exploration in the Murgha Fairzai, Shaighala, and Kakar Khurasan areas.
