July 1, 2020 08:45 PM

The federal cabinet Wednesday approved a Rs2000 increase in the monthly pension amount of the Employees Old age Benefits Institution (EBOI) pensioners.

Now the EOBI pensioners will get Rs8500 per month instead of Rs6500. This increase in the EOBI pension will be implemented from January 2020 and the pensioners would get the arrears along with increased pension amount from August 1.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the increase in the minimum pension amount for the EOBI pensioners from Rs6500 to Rs8500.

The EOBI Board had endorsed this Rs2000 increase in the pensions in a meeting held on February 21, 2020 that was supposed to be implemented from January 2020.

But on April 14, 2020, the federal cabinet had postponed this increase in the pension.
