Parliament is weak, all ministries being run by bureaucrats: Abbasi

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the strength of unelected MNAs in the National Assembly was more than democratically elected members and it was admitted fact that we have not accepted democracy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a seminar on International Parliament Day in Islamabad, former PM Abbasi said that in the Pakistani parliament, lies are told without hesitation. He said the government has brought four amendments in NAB laws but its powers remain the same.
He said parliament is weak in Pakistan as all ministries were being run by bureaucrats. He said MNAs have no office while international tours are arranged for fun and enjoyment.
Former Information Minister Fawad Ch said that Pakistan’s parliament is not proactive, adding that when MNAs will come in parliament on Form 47 then parliament will remain useless.
He said in the recent general election landlord culture got completely damaged. He demanded first democracy should be restored in its real form. He praised that powers were being shifted from elite to general masses. He lamented Pakistan politicians have no power and authority.
Former MNA Daniyal Aziz said that corruption was taking a form in the country.
He lamented that Pakistanis are least interested in reading history.
He said in Pakistan committee system was very poor while in the world such committees are formed with elections while in Pakistan such seats are distributed as donations. Moreover, these committees have no powers. He claimed that a member of parliament should be respected as being an elected leader of his constituency.
