Pak Navy ship rescues Iranian fishing dhow with 23 fishermen onboard

Pakistan Navy ship ZULFIQUAR rescued an Iranian fishing dhow AL MUHAMMADI with 23 fishermen onboard stranded over 1200 Nautical Miles from its home port, according to a press release.
The PNS ZULFIQUAR, which was deployed on Regional Maritime Security Patrol, promptly responded to a distress call of the fishing dhow, the press release said, adding that upon communication with the Pakistan navy ship, the fishing dhow reported a seriously injured crew member as well as defective engine and requested for necessary assistance.
It said PNS ZULFIQUAR swiftly responded and dispatched its medical and technical teams which provided first aid to the injured fisherman who sustained severe injuries to his hand while repairing the boat's engine.
Two more sick crew members were examined and provided medical assistance while the boat’s engine was also repaired, the press release maintained.
In line with the national objective of ensuring peace and stability in the region; the Pakistan Navy regularly deploys its assets on Regional Maritime Security Patrol.
During deployment, PN ships also provide assistance to ships operating at sea. The humanitarian assistance operation displays the Pakistan Navy's unflinching resolve towards the safety and security of seafarers plying in the Indian Ocean region.
