Mirpurkhas Deputy Commissioner Zahid Hussain Memon passed away due to coronavirus on Thursday. He was the second DC who died of the disease, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The TV channel said that Zahid Memon was the second deputy commissioner (DC) in Sindh who died in the wake of COVID-19 as DC Mirpurkhas Syed Mehdi Ali Shah had also passed away due to COVID-19.

Zahid Hussain Memon was tested positive for the coronavirus a few days ago and shifted to a private hospital in Karachi where he breathed his last on Thursday.

Pakistan has reported five deaths in the last 24 hours (Wednesday) by novel coronavirus taking the nationwide tally of fatalities to 6,479.

According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 543 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours (Wednesday).
