Sindh announces starting ‘Tent Schools’ in flood-hit area

Sindh Minister for Education Sardar Ali Shah Thursday announced to establish ‘Tent Schools’ in flood-hit areas to facilitate affected students.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Education Minister visited flood-hit areas in Umar Kot and talked to the media on Thursday.
He said his provincial government has already imposed an educational emergency in Sindh as thousands of schools have been drowned in the flood waters.
The minister said the tent schools will be set up across the province and the first tent school will be started on Monday in Umar Kot.
Shah said out of 42,000 schools in Sindh, 12,000 schools were completely destroyed and the student could not continue their studies in some other 10,000 schools as they are unable to facilitate them.
He said the help of international organizations will be required to rebuild 22,000 schools in Sindh.
He said due to encroachments on the natural waterways like the old Hakaroo River and Pran Nadi, the water flow has disturbed to release into the sea directly. He said the natural waterways have been blocked by local citizens by developing villages in it.
He also said that half of the city of Nuwakot is established in the middle of the old Hakaroo River.
