A meeting chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq failed to decide on giving relief to the public in electricity bills as talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) produced no results, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The meeting was briefed that the increase in electricity bills under the head of the basic tariff was in line with the IMF conditions.
Moreover, the meeting also failed to decide on not increasing the prices of petroleum products, informed sources said.
The Ministry of Finance will issue a notification tonight regarding the changes in the prices of petroleum products.
Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar will shortly meet media anchors and inform them about his efforts and the tough conditions of the IMF.
However, an agreement was reached on the payment of electricity bills in installments, and the power distribution companies were issued directions in this regard.
It is to be noted here that the issue of free electricity has already been referred to the cabinet committee.
