The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a 40 paisa per unit increase in electricity rates for Karachi, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Tuesday.

According to the channel report, this adjustment is part of the monthly adjustment for August 2024, with K-Electric customers facing extra charges in their January 2025 bills.

The new increase will place an added burden on K-Electric consumers. Compared to September 2024, they will now pay an additional Rs 2.17 per unit in November.

In comparison to October, customers will see an extra charge of 58 paise per unit, leading to a total increase of Rs4.91 per unit in November, with Rs1.74 more than in previous months under the quarterly adjustment.

In September, K-Electric users were charged only Rs 1 per unit under monthly adjustments, highlighting a significant rise in costs for residents in Karachi.
