The district and sessions court of Islamabad Thursday fixed February 11 as the date for indicting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill in the sedition case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Shahbaz Gill appeared in the court while a plea seeking exemption for Ammad Yousaf from appearance on medical grounds was produced in the court.
Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi also appeared before the court.
“Very sensitive cases are being heard these days,” Shahbaz Gill said on the rostrum.
“Isn’t your case sensitive too?” the court questioned.
“I am very self-sufficient in cases nowadays, for I am facing cases in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta too,” Shahbaz Gill said in the court.
“The petrol price has gone too high. Give a long gap between today’s and next hearing,” he pleaded.
On the occasion, the special prosecutor pleaded with the court to initiate the process of indictment.
“In my case, thousands of rupees have been spent. I have personally spent hundreds of thousands of rupees,” Gill told the court.
“If you have an objection to the special prosecutor, it is being heard at the upper forum,” the court said to Shahbaz Gill.
“There is an example of Rana Sanaullah who could not be indicted despite the lapse of three years,” Shahbaz Gill said upon which the court asked him to be careful in making such statements.
The court then instructed to ensure the attendance of Ammad Yousaf at the next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case till February 11.
