Though the human rights lawyer couple Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha have been granted bail in the warden torture case from the Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad but another court sent them to jail in a new case against them on Thursday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, both the lawyers were presented by the police in the court of ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, who granted them bail in the warden torture case.

Two days ago, the Anti-Terrorism Court of  Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved a three-day physical remand of the couple, but the next day, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz declared null and void the case. And now the ATC has granted them bail in the case.

On the other hand, Islamabad police registered a new criminal case against the couple on the complaint filed by the Cyber Crime Unit of Islamabad Police at Aabpara police station today.

Islamabad police presented Hadi Ali Chattha before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood today in the new case of using an iron punch to hit the traffic warden at the Zero Point incident.

The FIR registered at Aabpara police station said Hadi had confessed during interrogation related to torture in the traffic warden case that he used an iron punch against the officer.

Additionally, police obtained a transit remand for Hadi Ali over allegations of possessing a metal punch, which was reportedly recovered from his vehicle and kept as evidence. He was later placed on judicial remand.

Meanwhile, his bail application has been submitted, and the court has issued a notice for a hearing tomorrow.

The couple was initially detained on October 25 at Zero Point after an altercation at a police checkpoint set up for the English cricket team’s security.

Reportedly, Imaan attempted to remove police barricades, which led to an argument and Hadi’s alleged assault on a traffic police officer.
