The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Thursday cancelled the arrest warrants and voided the absconder declaration proceedings against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the Hassan Abdal case.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, during the hearing on , Gandapur’s legal team, led by Faisal Malik, presented a protective bail order issued by the Peshawar High Court covering 32 cases involving the KP chief minister.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah represented the government during the proceedings.

It is noteworthy that Gandapur had earlier been declared an absconder by the Rawalpindi ATC in the Hassan Abdal case.

Separately, on December 17, the District Sessions Court in Islamabad upheld non-bailable arrest warrants against Gandapur in an audio leak case, with the next hearing scheduled for January 9, 2025.

Gandapur has also been named in multiple cases related to the May 9 GHQ gate crash incident.

On December 19, 14 additional PTI members, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Shehryar Afridi, were indicted in the GHQ case. All accused have denied the charges.

The court also completed an initial hearing on a petition filed by Gandapur and has appointed Ghulam Hussain Sumbal as the pleader in this case. Ghulam Hussain Sumbal will be Gandapur’s pleader in 12 cases involving May 9 violence.
