PIA official fired on ‘fake’ degree charge

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started stern action against the national airline staff having ‘bogus’ degrees and certificates.

Assistant Manager Flight Khalid Mehmood Jadon is sacked on charges of holding fake degree according to a notification issued on Wednesday.  It added the fired employee has fake degree and he failed to answer questions during inquiry.

Last week, a Senate body that opposed the termination of services was told that verification of educational credentials of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) employees was underway.

According to PIACL COO Ejaz Mazhar 402 employees were terminated while 35 cases were under process of disciplinary proceedings.Reportedly 263 employees got stay order and more suspicious degrees are being verified.

Civil Aviation Authority Director General Hassan Baig also told the committee that the authority had suspended licences of pilots and cabin crew members over fake credentials.
