The police on Monday night again raided the Gujrat residence of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to arrest him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

This is the fourth raid on Elahi’s residence in as many days. A large contingent of police tried to enter the Kunjah House after cordoning off the entire area.

The spokesperson for the Kunjah House informed that police raided the place to arrest Elahi in corruption cases registered by the anti-corruption establishment.

Informing about the raid on the microblogging site, Elahi’s son, Moonish Elahi tweeted: “Punjab police again at Kunjah House in Gujrat to conduct another raid. I have told them to give them access although they still don’t have a search warrant.”

On the other hand, the police authorities said that law personnel from over 15 police stations in the City and Sadr were included in the raiding team which was led by DPO Ahmad Nawaz Shah.

The police officers reportedly entered the residence by climbing over the walls. They claimed that their repeated door knocks went unanswered, forcing them to enter the house.

During the search of the house, the police briefly detained three employees of the house for interrogation. The household staff was questioned about Elahi during the search which continued for a brief period of time.

Distancing itself from last night raid at Kunjah House, the anti-corruption establishment said that it was an exclusive police action.

On Friday night, police raided Elahi’s Lahore residence in Gulberg but they could not also find him there.

The police action comes just hours before the final round of election talks between the PTI and the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government today. The opposition has already warned that the parleys could falter if the arrests and raids did not stop.
