The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in cases related to cypher audio leak and prohibited funding, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The FIA is investigating the audio leaks allegedly featuring Imran Khan, PTI leaders, and former principal secretary Azam Khan in discussions about a US cypher on the orders of the federal cabinet.
The FIA has directed the PTI chief Imran Khan to appear in the FIA office in Islamabad on November 3 at 12pm.
Apart from this, the FIA has also summoned Khan in the prohibited funding probe — a case in which the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has blamed him for receiving illicit funding.
The FIA has also called in PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on November 3 at 12pm. The former foreign minister was summoned last week as well, but he didn't appear before the institution.
PTI Secretary-General Asad Umar has also been summoned on November 2 at 12pm.
In October, the intelligence agency had summoned Azam Khan – ex-principal secretary of former prime minister Imran Khan – for investigation of the infamous US cypher. Azam Khan was summoned by the FIA on October 27.
On September 28, an alleged audio of ex-PM Imran Khan and his aide Azam Khan discussing US cypher, which the PTI chief claimed led to the ouster of his government, was leaked.
In the alleged conversation, Azam Khan can be heard informing former prime minister Khan about the controversial diplomatic cable.
