Former Caretaker Minister of Commerce and Industry, Gohar Ejaz, has emphasized the need to continue efforts to provide relief to the public from the high costs associated with 40 Independent Power Producers (IPPs), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Sunday.

Ejaz stated that 250 million people in Pakistan should be relieved from the burden of expensive electricity.

He urged parliamentary committees to play an active role in ensuring this relief.

Ejaz also revealed that a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against IPPs, expressing hope that the court will soon take up the case.

He stressed the importance of conducting a forensic audit of IPPs to address the issue effectively.
