The Anti-Corruption Establishment (AEC) has initiated a probe against former Punjab health minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Yasmin Rashid on corruption charges of billions of rupees at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and summoned her on April 4 at 12 noon, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Yasmin Rashid is accused of allegedly taking bribes in parking, canteen and cleaning contracts.

Meanwhile, the ACE has also called AMS store pharmacy Dr Masood Nawaz along with Dr Yasmin Rashid.

Executive Director of PIC Dr Bilal Mohiuddin, MS Dr Muhammad Tehsin, and AMS Purchase Dr Shakeel were also summoned by the ACE in the same case.

It has been alleged that by purchasing stents at exorbitant rates during the current fiscal year, the central purchase across Punjab caused a loss of more than one billion rupees to the public treasury.

There is also an allegation of taking huge commissions by purchasing stents in violation of PPRA rules during this fiscal year.

The equipment used in the bypass operation is also alleged to be bought at exorbitant prices.

The PIC administration is also accused of stealing items worth billions of rupees from the PIC store, including cardiac batteries.
