PM, Opp leader likely to meet for consultation on caretaker prime minister today

A meeting is likely today between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz on the issue of the caretaker prime minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
It is learnt that the process of selecting the caretaker prime minister has entered the final stages.
Consultations are also going on between the government and the allies on the names of the caretaker prime minister.
The government allies have sought time for consultations regarding the caretaker prime minister.
It is also learnt that the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have come close to finalising the name of the caretaker prime minister.
Former Senate chairman and former Sindh governor are also among the names shortlisted for the caretaker prime minister.
Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari have also held consultations on the names of the caretaker prime minister. The names nominated by the two leaders will be given to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The caretaker prime minister will be selected this week. The ruling party had proposed five names to the allies for the caretaker prime minister.
The names given by the government included two senior bureaucrats, one technocrat and two politicians.
The names of Gohar Ejaz, Dr Ishratul Ibad, Muhammad Mian Soomro, and former justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday were also proposed for the caretaker prime minister.
