Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar Friday praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar as “highly successful,” emphasizing that both visits yielded positive outcomes for Pakistan’s economy and international relations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Returning home after these visits, the Prime Minister’s discussions in Saudi Arabia were particularly productive, said the Minister.
Saudi Arabia's role in Pakistan’s economic recovery was highlighted, with the Minister noting that Saudi Investment Minister’s recent visit to Pakistan resulted in 27 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth $2.2 billion. This investment has since increased to $2.8 billion, with the MoUs rising from 27 to 34. “Work has already commenced on five MoUs,” the Information Minister stated, emphasizing that this additional $600 million investment would further bolster Pakistan's economy.
The Prime Minister also met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the Investment Conference, where additional agreements were reached in a positive and “pleasant atmosphere.”
The Minister reiterated the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, a relationship rooted in decades of mutual support and cooperation.
During the Qatar visit, Qatar organized an exhibition showcasing Pakistani art from 1947 to the present, featuring Pakistani artists and painters.
Minister Tarar expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar and his wife for hosting the exhibition, which drew global appreciation. The event reflected an “unusual warmth” between Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring the close ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
The Information Minister said that Pakistan’s economic recovery is underway, with stability progressing following recent reform efforts.
