2,075 terror incidents reported in country during 16-month: Interior Ministry submits report in NA

The federal government Friday said that at least 930 people were martyred in 2023 while 2000 others were injured in various terror attacks across the country, reported 24NerwsHD TV channel.
The Interior Ministry submitted a detailed report in the National Assembly session regarding the data for the terror attacks in the country. The report said that during the four months of 2024, 285 people were martyred and around 600 people got injured in various terror incidents.
The report further said that during the last 16 months, 2,075 incidents of terrorism were reported across the country. In 1140 terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 756 people were martyred and 1,786 people were injured.
Around 423 people were martyred and 734 people were injured in 626 incidents of terrorism in Balochistan province. 14 people were martyred and 36 injured in 19 incidents of terrorism in Sindh during the last 16 months.
12 people were martyred and 11 injured in eight incidents of terrorism in Punjab during 16 months, 9 people were martyred and 26 injured in three incidents of terrorism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Ministry of Interior has also said in the report that the law and order situation in the country is deteriorating. The Ministry of Interior said that after the return of the coalition forces from Afghanistan, the incidents of terrorism increased.
The Ministry of Interior report further said that cross-border support was being provided to terrorists in most of the incidents. Moreover, the use of cyberspace has increased the reach of terror organizations in the country.
The report claimed that during the first quarter of this year, 2208 intelligence-based operations were conducted in which 89 terrorists were killed and 328 were arrested. The Ministry of Interior said that the draft of the national policy for counter-violence and extremism was ready and waiting for approval from the cabinet.
