Govt okays financial aid for families of missing persons: Law minister

Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the Federal Cabinet has approved financial assistance for the families of missing persons, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Talking to the media after the Federal Cabinet meeting, the Law Minister said that the commission on the missing person case was working to resolve the issue for the last 12 to 13 years. Today the missing persons case was put up before the cabinet.


He said after a detailed discussion, the federal government has approved an assistance package for missing persons’ families.


The law minister said that the families whose members were missing for more than 5 years will be given Rs5 lakh each.


He said the government has expressed sympathies with the missing person's families. However, the Law Minister made it clear that this act of the government should not be taken that any department has taken responsibility for the missing persons.


He said that the state’s role is like a careful mother. The Law Minister said that there were multiple and complex reasons behind missing persons. The state is fulfilling the responsibility of protecting the life of every citizen, Law Minister.


He said the government has taken measures to solve the problem of missing persons. He said the state was determined to solve the problem of missing persons by using all resources.
