PFA seals three chicken points, salt processing unit
Crackdown carried out in different areas of Gujranwala to check sale of adulterated food items

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed three poultry shops and one salt processing unit during a crackdown on sale adulterated food items in different areas of Gujranwala.
According PFA Director General Irfan Nawaz Memon, a total of 65 food points were examined during the crackdown in different areas of Gujranwala. During checking, a salt processing unit namely Nawaz Salt was sealed over wrong labelling.
The DG said that in Jinnah Road locality Nandipur, Bilal Poultry Sale Centre, Billa Poultry Sale Centre and Azan Poultry Sale Centre were sealed. Irfan Memon pointed out that these chicken sales centres were penalised for using chemical drums, poor sanitary condition and lack of medical fitness certificates of the employees.
Five other units were fined over poor hygienic conditions while 50 food points were served notices for raising standards further.
The PFA DG warned that no one would be allowed to play with the public health.
He reiterated the PFA’s commitment to ensuring sale of quality food items to the public.
