Former Pakistani singer Rabi Pirzada posted a video on her YouTube channel in which she gave her stance on Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s recent controversy and revealed some unknown facts about this topic.
In case the readers are not aware, a video of Rahat made the rounds on social media. In the video, the singer was found beating his student after one of his important bottles went missing from his collection.
In the shared video, Rabi spoke up about the behavior of musicians in the industry. She mentioned how many renowned singers like Rahat and some others hire students for free or pay them very little, despite earning huge sums themselves, and disrespect or beat them as if they were superior.
She referred to the incident involving Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and expressed her belief that his house help was likely working without proper compensation. Rabi Pirzada emphasized the need for accountability and suggested that he should apologize not just to the public but also to Allah.
The lady also highlighted the importance of recognizing and supporting low-profile musicians who face similar situations.
Here are the exact words of Rabi:
“I was watching Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s video for quite some time. I am a former singer. Initially, I didn’t want to talk about it but my conscience didn’t allow me to stay quiet.
Let me tell you, these big singers hire such students for free; they barely pay them and promise them to teach music in return. If you pay them in crores for an event, they hardly pay them (students) a few bucks. You should take notice of this thing. You have just seen one video. There are a lot of low-profile musicians who are being treated the same way.
When madam Noor Jahan passed away, his musicians said, ‘Today, we have become orphans’. But currently, these singers are not like that, they are interested in their wages.
I am sure that his student was working for free in return for learning music from him. You jumped from the liquor bottle to the holy water bottle; you could have made some other excuse; you said it was propaganda; but you were the one who committed a mistake, after which it all started.
Rahat Bhai, we all make mistakes, but you made an apology in public. You should apologize to Allah”.
