PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday refused to open the doors of his vehicle and cooperate with police, saying who knows they may have a bag containing 15 kilogrammes of heroin and he won’t allow them to search in the absence of media.
Police stopped Rana Sana at Regal Chowk while he was on his way to the Lahore High Court (LHC) in connection with the hearing of bail plea submitted by the party chief, Shehbaz Sharif.
However, he was allowed to move towards the LHC after the administration and police officials held talks with lawyers.
Later, Rana Sana told media persons at LHC that he was stopped for searching his vehicle, but he would allow them to search that in the presence of media or some other independent media.
The policemen should be frisked first otherwise they might place 15 kilogrammes of heroin in his vehicle, he remarked.
He was referring to his arrest by the ANF which had arrested him last year, claiming that 15 kilogrammes of heroin were found in a bag from his vehicle. The senior politician was later sent to jail on judicial remand but the LHC had granted him bail after he spent months in the prison.
How one can trust the state institutions which place bags containing drugs in the vehicles of parliamentarians, he remarked.
Criticising the government, Rana Sana said Shehbaz was coming to the court to avail his right of getting but they had sealed even the LHC.
The remarks came before the LHC registrar ordered the police to remove barriers from the roads as well as a large contingent of police and allow free movement, which had been placed in an attempt to arrest the PML-N president.
Along with the heavy ordinary police contingent, a large number of antiriot police were also deployed around the LHC premises and on the roads leading to the premises.
