Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has announced intra-party elections and in the first phase party membership has been opened across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference, JUI-F senior leader Hafiz Hamdullah said that according to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rules, intra-party elections should be held within five years.
He said keeping in view the rules, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced to hold intra-party elections of the party.
Hamdullah said before the intra-party elections, JUI-F had opened the membership process across the country.
He said once the registration process is completed then JUI-F will start the organizational phase. He said after the organizational phase, Ameer, Secretary General and other office-bearers will be elected.
He said JUI-F was an Islamic, political and democratic party. JUI-F was the only party that registered its protest immediately after the elections in February 2024.
He said JUI-F rejected February 8 general elections as it believed the present parliament was not a representative of the people therefore the current government must resign. He demanded fresh elections and added that the protest movement against fraud elections will continue.
He said JUI-F has not decided whether it will start a joint anti-government protest movement with PTI. He said JUI-F had numbers of differences with PTI for many years.
He said besides PTI, the delegations of PML-N and PPP have also come to Maulana Fazl and their doors were open for all.
JUI-F leader said it was clear that JUI will not become the part of the current government nor will support it.
