Asif Zardari seeks acquittal in three NAB references

Former president and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday submitted petitions seeking acquittal in three NAB references in an accountability court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The accountability court issued a notice to the anti-graft watchdog and sought a reply from it till Nov 18.
Former president Zardari pleaded to the court to acquit him in further NAB references pertaining to fake accounts.
He submitted these petitions on the basis of 2nd Amendment to NAB Ordinance. He prayed to the court to acquit him in the Park Lane and Mega Money Laundering references. He also pleaded for the acquittal in the Thatta Water Supply reference.
The accountability court put the NAB on notice asking it to submit a reply in this regard to the court till Nov 18.
The NAB lawyer informed the court that the body was yet to receive the gazette notification of the Third Amendment to the NAB Ordinance.
The judge of the accountability court remarked that due to non-availability of the gazette notification, the court work was being affected.
Prior to it, PPP senior leader Zardari has also filed a petition pleading acquittal in the Tosha Khana reference.
The NAB, however, pleaded for the dismissal of the acquittal of Mr Zardari in the Tosha Khana reference.
The Islamabad High Court has issued a stay order in the fishy Rs8 billion transaction case.
Mr Zardari has challenged the verdict of the accountability court in the high court.
