The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested Khadija Shah, a diehard PTI leader, presently in detention in connection with May 9 violence, from inside the jail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Later, the FIA produced her in a court in Lahore, and sought her 14-day physical remand.

Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid heard the FIA’s plea.

The Agency’s legal advisor Rana Ijaz Khalil on the occasion told the court that the suspect on May 9 had made some objectionable tweets which were being retweeted till this day.

Khadija’s counsel, on the other hand, said that his client had been in jail for the last five months. “The point to be noted is she tweeting from inside the jail?” he questioned.

Thousands of people had come out on the streets on May 9, 2023 immediately after the arrest of their leader, former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan by Pakistan Rangers from inside a court in Islamabad.

They allegedly vandalized government buildings and military installations and in some instances set them on fire.

Court sends Khadija Shah on 14-day judicial remand

Later, Rejecting the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) request for physical remand of diehard PTI worker Khadija Shah in ‘objectionable’ tweets case, a court in Lahore on Friday sent her to jail on a 14-day judicial remand instead.

During the hearing, FIA’s lawyer told the judicial magistrate that the Agency had to recover a laptop and a cellphone from Khadija. “We also have to question her in connection with the PTI’s digital team,” the lawyer said.

Counsel for the PTI worker, on the occasion, said that there was no complainant in his client’s case.
