Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday heard PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat’s petition, seeking protective bail in a case registered against him in Dera Ismael Khan along with objections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Earlier, the registrar objected to the petition, saying it could not be heard since Marwat did not have the power of attorney.
Resultantly, Marwat had to file the petition through his brother.
At the start of the hearing, Justice Kiani said he could not hear the petition in the absence of power of attorney.
Marwat’s lawyer said a case had been registered against his client in Dera Ismail Khan.
He prayed to the court to grant bail to Marwat. “Right now the petitioner is abroad. And he is due to return tomorrow,” the lawyer informed, and requested the court for more time for the submission of power of attorney.
But the judge remarked that there was no precedent of the hearing of a bail plea without power of attorney.
Resultantly, Marwat had to file the petition through his brother.
