The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday accepted the bail petition of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II reference in lieu of a surety bond of Rs1 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IHC’s judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb pronounced the verdict.

On the last hearing, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had opposed Bushra’ bail plea.

FIA Prosecutor Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi, FIA lawyer Umair Majeed Malik appeared before the court while Barrister Salman Safdar represented the former first lady.

"It's been 12 days since the last hearing of Bushra's bail plea," Barrister Salman said.

Giving his arguments, Safdar said that the price of the gifts was lowered by a private buyer, who he said, had become an approver against Bushra.

Justice Aurangzeb asked, "Was it Imran Khan’s decision to take the gift after paying 50 per cent of the total value?"

The FIA prosecutor responded that was not the case.

“What are your directives about the bail plea of Bushra Bibi?" Justice Aurangzed further inquired.

"We will oppose it," said the FIA prosecutor.

On July 13, Imran and his wife Bushra had been arrested in a fresh National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Toshakhana case.

The NAB team, headed by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon, arrested the former prime minister and his wife from the Adiala Jail.

The development came after the Islamabad district and sessions court accepted the appeals filed by Imran and Bushra against their conviction in the Iddat case.

Indictment again deferred

The indictment of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II reference was once again postponed on Wednesday.

Special Judge Central FIA Shah Rukh Arjumand heard the case at the Judicial Complex instead of the Adiala Jail since there is a ban on meetings and hearings at the jail due to security concerns.

The case hearing was then deferred until October 26.
