According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Ishrat Ali had been asked to report to the Division.
The grade 22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) had been appointed as the Supreme Court registrar on September 28, 2022.
The notification followed the federal cabinet’s directive issued after deliberations at a special meeting on Monday. The federal cabinet met with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the chair at the PMO. The cabinet deliberated upon two-point agenda. Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan briefed the cabinet.
The cabinet considered the issue of the circular issued by the Registrar Supreme Court against the top court order. It also demanded President Dr Arif Alvi to sign the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023. Earlier, Justice Qazi Faez too directed the Registrar Supreme Court to resign.
