GB ex-governor Pir Syed Karam Ali Shah passes away

A PPP stalwart and former governor Gilgit-Baltistan Pir Syed Karam Ali Shah passed away in Islamabad on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was 86 years old. Pir Karam Ali Shah was also the first Deputy Chief Executive of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and the third Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan during his long political career. Pir Syed Karam Ali Shah was an undefeated member of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly for 10 times.

His health had deteriorated a few days back and he was hospitalized in Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari appointed him as the governor in 2011, a position he held till 2015.

Hailing from Ishkoman Valley of Ghizer district, the late Pir has been seen as a respected personality in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
