Gilgit-Baltistan imposes tax on tourist vehicles, motorcycles

The provincial government on Tuesday imposed a Rs2,000 tax on tourist vehicles entering Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
According to a notification, tourists using motorcycles will have to pay a Rs500 fee to enter Gilgit-Baltistan.
In September this year, the government of Gilgit-Baltistan significantly increased the permit fee for international as well as local mountaineers.
This change includes a substantial increase in the cost to climb K2, the world’s second-highest peak. A notification from the G-B Tourism, Sports, Culture, Archaeology & Museum Department detailed the new fee structure.
