Disgruntled and fiery PTI leader MNA Sher Afzal Marwat has rejected the notification of his expulsion from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement on social media platform X (Twitter) on Saturday, Marwat announced, "After consulting around two dozen core committee members and senior party leaders, I believe that his expulsion order on yesterday was neither brought to the core committee's attention and nor were discussed there. Moreover, the party chairman, Barrister Gohar, who presided over the meeting was ignorant of the move”.
After questioning the legitimacy of his expulsion order, Sher Afzal claimed that his expulsion order was issued in a "dubious and hasty manner," which was fraudulently added into the Core Committee's proceedings.
He expressed his trust in Barrister Gohar, stating, "I have discussed all matters with Barrister Gohar today and he has given full authority to the Chairman in writing to decide on my party and parliamentary membership. I have full confidence in him."
PTI MNA also pledged his commitment to the people of his constituency and revealed his plans to call a grand jirga to seek their consent, stressing that the will and approval of his voters was first and the foremost.
Moreover, Marwat also condemned the language used in the expulsion notification by PTI's Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, who demanded resignation from party MNA without the approval of Barrister Gohar.
He lamented that, "he was not given an opportunity to be heard, adding that fake notifications were issued for wrong reasons."
Earlie on Saturday Sher Afzal Marwat was expelled from PTI through a notification signed by Firdous Shamim Naqvi, citing violations of party discipline.
The notification stated that Marwat had been previously warned to be cautious with his public statements. However, a committee reviewing his media interactions concluded that Marwat consistently disrespected party rules and principles.
