FIH confirms Pakistan hockey team’s participation in Olympic qualifier

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has confirmed the entry of the Pakistan Hockey Team in the Olympic Qualifier event, which will be held in Muscat, Oman from January 15 to 21, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) received an email from FIH informing them about the entry of the national team in the event. PHF President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti thanked FIH President Tayyab Ikram for ensuring the participation of the national team in the event.
The Pakistan team will leave for Muscat on January 12 to participate in the Olympic qualifiers, where they will face tough competition from other Asian teams. The PHF has announced the squad for the upcoming event, which will be led by Imad Butt as the captain and Abu Bakr Mahmood as the vice-captain. The squad consists of 18 players and six officials.
The squad is as follows: Abdullah Ishtiaq, Waqar, Arbaz Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah, Sufiyan Khan, Imad Shakeel Butt (Captain), and Abu Bakr Mahmood (Vice Captain). The team also includes Murtaza Yaqoob, Abdul Mannan, Aqeel Ahmed, Moeen Shakil, Salman Razaq, Abdul Hannan Shahid, Ghazanfar Ali, Abdul Rahman Jr, Zikriya Hayat, Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf, and Arshad Liaquat.
The team management comprises Head Coach Shahnaz Sheikh, Coach Shakil Abbasi, Assistant Coach Olympian Dilawar Hussain, Goalkeeper Coach Amjad Ali, Physiotherapist Waqas Mahmood, and Physical Trainer Muhammad Imran Khan.
