Gohar Ejaz warns govt of industry’s closure, flood of unemployment over power hike

Former Trade and Industry Minister Gohar Ejaz has warned the government that further hike in power prices was leading to the closure of industry and resultantly there will be a flood of unemployment in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While sharing his statement on his handle social media site X (former twitter), Gohar Ejaz requested the government to take remedial measures to control the prices of power otherwise industrialists will be compelled to shut down the industry.

Textile industry guru has urged the government to revisit its agreements with IPPs as he told the nation that 2 trillion rupees were being given to 40 IPPs by the government.

He urged the government to purchase cheap electricity from other sources. He advised the government that due to capacity payments, the entire country and nation was facing trouble.

He asked the government to take steps to come out of the abyss.
