Ogra approves 45 surge in gas tariff

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has approved a price hike for gas companies after the price of oil and electricity went up, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Friday.

Ogra approves a 45% increase for the people of Punjab and KP and 44%, for Sindh and Balochistan. The authority sent the recommendations to the federal government for the final decision.

Ogra issued the decision after hearing the petitions of gas companies and gave the approval to increase the price of gas for Sui Northern by Rs266.58 per MMBTU.

To okayed increase in the price of gas for Sui Southern by Rs308.53 per MMBTU. The coalition government yesterday increased oil and electricity prices, inviting public ire and criticism by opposition parties. 

On the call of former prime minister Imran Khan, PTI staged a countrywide protest against the government for adding to public woes. The government blames the mess on the Imran Khan’s government.
