Eight teachers were shot dead in two separate firing incidents in Parachinar near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to police, unidentified individuals killed a teacher on Shlozan Road by firing at a moving vehicle, and seven teachers were killed in Tarimangal High School's staff room following the incident.

As per details, unidentified gunmen barged into the staff room of the Government High School in the Tiri Mangal area of Parachinar and opened indiscriminate firing on the teachers.

According to police sources, the slain teachers, who all belonged to the Shia sect, were deputed to monitor matric examination.

The murdered teachers were identified as Mir Hussain, Jawad Hussain, Naveed Hussain, Jawad Ali, Muhammad Hussain and Ali Hussain.

Local police sources informed the media that after the incident, traffic routes across the district were closed due to security concerns while an emergency has been imposed in hospitals.

The sources in the Kohat Board of Metric and Secondary Education said matriculation examinations conducted by Kohat Board from April 28 have been postponed.

PM Shehbaz, Asif Zardari condemns teachers killing 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident and condoled the grieved families of the murdered teachers who were on examination duty in the school.

Former President and Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) president Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the killing of teachers in Parachanar school. He expressed his grief and sorrow to the victims' families.
