Azam Swati reiterates demand for JIT on May 9
Later speaking to the media, PTI leader Azam Swati, while asserting that the party was not involved in the May 9 incidents of violence, said that it had been the party’s demand that a joint investigation team (JIT) be constituted to identify those responsible for what happened on that ill-fated day.
He further said if the country was to be steered out of crises, then there must be a rule of law in the country.
Swati lamented that farmers in Punjab were out on the streets demanding their rights.
“PTI’s youth is languishing in jails in false and fabricated cases,” he said, adding, “Courts are requested to give decisions in the cases involving PTI leaders and workers on merit.”
Zartaj Gul says May 9 ‘drama’ was staged to eliminate PTI
Speaking to the media, PTI leader Zartaj Gul, while calling the May 9 incidents of violence a ‘drama’, said that it was an attempt to eliminate the party from the country.
She further said that only the party leadership would decide how to observe May 9. “PTI leaders and workers suffered immensely following what happened on that day,” Zartaj said, adding, “Former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan has always emphasized that there should be a rule of law in the country.”
She said that PTI leaders and workers had been made to pay the price for the crimes they never committed. “I salute those rotting in jails.”
“The party’s gathering on May 10 will be peaceful,” she said, and expressed the hope that the administration would allow the party to hold the event.
