The Pakistan International Airline Monday resumed its flights to Kuwait following permission from the Gulf state, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Reportedly, Kuwait had imposed a self-imposed ban on the Pakistani planes and its pilots. Due to this embargo, the PIA flights could not fly to the Gulf state. Whereas, the Kuwaiti Airline was operating freely in Pakistan.
The PIA first raised the matter at a diplomatic level but when the PIA wasn’t allowed to operate in Kuwait, the aviation minister while pointing out the exploitative behaviour of the gulf state also ordered to forestall the operation of Kuwait Airline in Pakistan in a tit-for-tat manner.
However, now Kuwait has allowed that the PIA can operate in its territory under the pressure of the government of Pakistan and Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority.
The national flag carrier is resuming its operation in Kuwait with two flights in a week.
PIA CEO Air Marshal (retd) Rashid Malik thanked the aviation minister and secretary of CAA and senior officials of the aviation authority.
According to the foreign ministry, the PIA’s Kuwait operation was resumed due to the efforts of the Pakistani ambassador to Kuwait and their ambassador to Pakistan.
