100,807 seats of schoolteachers lying vacant in Punjab

As many as 100,807 seats of teachers in the public schools of Punjab are lying vacant, 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday reported citing a list released by Punjab School Education Department.

According to the list available with 24NewsHD TV channel, a total of 58,380 seats of primary school teacher (PST) are vacant.

Similarly, 24,037 seats of elementary school teacher (EST) and 7,334 of senior school teacher (SST) are vacant.

Likewise, 878 seats of principals and 6,664 of head teacher and subject specialist are also vacant across Punjab.

According to School Education Department, a summary has been sent to Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi for the recruitment of 16,000 teachers in the first phase.

Following the approval of the summary, the recruitment of teachers will be started through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
