Hundreds of citizens, including activists of nationalist parties, social and rights organizations, and traders staged a sit-in at Ghantaghar Chowk in Kandhkot town on the third consecutive day on Sunday in protest against the police’s failure to recover all hostages, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Holding placards inscribed with their demands, the protesters including women and children were calling for the recovery of the kidnapped hostages from across the district for the past 32 hours. They were also chanting anti-police slogans for their failure. They demanded the government's massive crackdown against dacoits’ rule in the district.

They alleged that local sardars were patronizers, harbourers, and facilitators of criminals, who had made their lives miserable.

It is pertinent that members of the minority organization, Pakistan Darawar Ittehad, and its supporters took out a procession from the Railway Station to the State Life building on Saturday in protest against the police failure to recover a teenage Hindu girl, a student of class seven, who was kidnapped about a month ago.

The protesters’ leaders Dr Mehr Chand, Harish Kumar, advocate Abdul Ghani Bijarani, Hafiz Nasrullah Chana and others demanded the government to rescue the girl immediately.

Citizens of Balochistan and Punjab also joined the demonstration.

They warned that the sit-in will be continued until the hostages Sagar Kumar, Jaideep Kumar, Mukhi Jagdish Kumar, Dr. Munir Ahmed Naich, and other hostages are not recovered.

They urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief of Army Staff, Prime Minister to take notice.

The participants demand that security should be provided to the citizens by rescuing the hostages by carrying out an army operation against the robbers.
